Happy Mother's Day : A Story by Mr. Mustache

In ancient Egypt a young boy invented bread.  What most people don't know is that his mom invented bread labels.  She also invented wrapping paper.

He became very successful selling bread up and down the Nile, and his mom helped him.  She was not just a hard worker, she was a thinker too.  She always thought of ways to help her family.  When she had a good idea, she put it into action.

One night there was an eclipse and the mother was very tired.   Even in the dark, she helped her son bake his bread.

Another time the boy locked his brother in a sarcophagus and threw him in the Nile River for all eternity, but his mom never held it against him.

The boy was very bad at hieroglyphics.  His mom never gave up until he could spell correctly.

The mom was always happy.  She always had a good attitude and a smile.  When the gods weighed her heart, it was light and beautiful. The monster of the dead went to sleep hungry.

Farm Union- My Customers of the Week!

The ladies of Farm Union have been great customers.  They have always helped me find the person that my order goes to.  I've always been able to sell my extra bread there and I have made some good friends.  These ladies are great!

Everybody got a smile from this picture (not a Silly).

Instead of giving everyone their favorite bread, I gave them a gift certificate for a free loaf of Mr. Mustache Bread.  These gift cards are available for purchase.  A fun gift idea would be to buy a loaf of your favorite Mr. Mustache bread and a gift card for the recipient to also try one of their choosing.  My bread makes a great gift because it is delicious, it is already wrapped, and it has personality!  It is a gift people are always happy to get and will remember.

Mr. Mustache (Almost) Takes the Week Off!

Today, I took a three hour nap.  I think a week of relaxing was very much needed!

Mr. Mustache Creates a Holiday

Bread by Mr. Mustache has been giving fifty cents a loaf to my Uncle Brad.  He’s a great guy who has been helping the people of Uganda.  The first project Brad did last summer was to build a playground for the kids in Amazima Feeding Program.  Uganda doesn’t have playgrounds.  The kids had never seen a playground.  Most of the children in the feeding program are orphans.  Their lives are filled up with school and work.  I can’t imagine never having played on a swing or a slide.  I can’t imagine having to provide for my younger brother and sisters because my parents are dead.  These kids need some fun.  I am proud that my Uncle Brad did something about that.

Last fall Brad returned to Uganda to live there.  He has wrangled goats, built a chapel that serves as a classroom, and has begun teaching people farming skills too.  Brad does all of this because he loves Jesus.  He loves God’s people enough to move across the ocean (away from yummy Mr. Mustache Bread) and live and eat and be Ugandan.

This has brought me to my decision to create a holiday.  Next week is International Bread Week and I will be giving all the money I earn to help Uncle Brad’s work.  Order some bread and help me raise money for Brad Lang, missionary to Uganda.

New on the Wall: Rich in Books and Rich in Bread

Barb is a great customer because she is consistent, understanding, and fun.  Barb is consistent because she orders one or two loaves of bread each week.  I know she is very understanding.  Once, I forgot to add salt to her sourdough.  I emailed her saying I had ruined her bread!  She wrote back and said it was ok.  It was a very nice email.  Barb is fun because she tries all my different breads.  I think Classic Whole Wheat is her family's favorite.  Thanks, Barb, for being a good customer.

Garfield Was Assassinated

Apparently it is bad luck to name your mixer after a guy who got assassinated.  My mixer is dead.  The assassin was probably Classic Whole Wheat.  After mourning the loss of our dear friend, it was time to get to work.  My mom and I hand-kneaded over 40 loaves last week.  It was horrific.  I needed a new machine, one nothing like Garfield.

Garfield was a professional-style mixer with high wattage and large flour capacity, but right away we noticed that Garfield wasn’t much better than my mom’s old little mixer.  Why?  Poor gears.  The gears strip out with heavy usage.  The motor overheating was a problem.  Mr. Mustache needed something that could grind the grain, not some pretty boy that was all talk.

Meet the Norris.

Norris never gets overheated.  He is so calm people look him and immediately forget what anger is.  Norris has better torque.  He can do a 360 backspin that can blow your socks off.   Norris means business.   Nobody messes with the Norris, not even Classic Whole Wheat.
